Capers Jones
President of Capers Jones & Associates LLC

Primarily, Jones works with large software-producing organizations. His interests include embedded software, systems software, IT software, commercial software, outsource software, and defense software.

Within the software field his specialties include quality and productivity estimation, measurement and metrics, and project management.

Jones worked at IBM from 1965 until 1978. Left IBM with 40 others to form a new software laboratory for ITT in Stratford, CT.  He founded Software Productivity Research (SPR) in 1984. SPR was a pioneer in software cost estimating, software assessments, and software benchmarks.

Author of 16 books, most of which deal with assessments, estimating, measurement, and project management, Jones’ newest book "Software Engineering Best Practices" has been published in November of 2009 by McGraw Hill.
